![]() Kana Little Sister |
As i said inside About page, i’ll do review of Japanese Dating-sim Games on this blog. I discovered those games few years ago while surfing randomly on internet. I can’t remember the first one i played but i really enjoyed it and i quickly wanted to find more. Where i live it’s completely unknown and not sold on shop or only very specialized places i don’t know about. |
I was astonished by how many games were released in English, and happy too !
Since i’m very emotional (maybe too much) i enjoy deep characters, interesting story even for Hentaï games. The game i’ll review here is not focused on sex, real hentai scenes are in very low numbers. That didn’t stop me to consider it as the best hentai game i ever played.
So the game is called “Kana ~ Little Sister”.
You’re Takamishi Toudou and your little sister carries a deadly diseases. She’s all the time at the hospital, cannot go to school or play outside with friend.
As her big brother you do whatever you can to help her, comfort her and make her live as a normal little girl as possible.

Pretending to be a normal girl.
The plot is mostly focused on the relationship between Toudou and Kana. During the game you have to make choice on what you planned to do for Kana and how to react when she act depressed or happy.
Toudou meet other girls of course but that’s a small details. Indeed, all endings concern Kana in a way or another. I won’t tell you anything about endings to not spoil.

She cries a lot ...
If you want to see all the endings it will require lot of efforts and patience because the choices during the game are numerous and a pattern is difficult to match.
Of course there’s good … and bad endings but both of them made me cry like a baby.
Since the game is very long, you get closer to the characters especially Kana who’s disease made her look vulnerable. You just want to protect her and do whatever you can to appease her fears. Without realizing it, you become Toudou !
That’s why this game is my favorite. You enter it, you become one with it while you play.

... i cried a lot too
Conclusion
Graphics : 8/10 – It’s very clean and soft. There’s not so many characters but they’re all convincing.
Voices : 8/10 – Nothing wrong to say here. Quality is very good and some highly emotional scenes feels great.
Scenario 7/10 : Plot is basic but it evolve a lot. Simple but complex at the same time.
Sex Scenes : 8/10 – Well it’s difficult to judge since they’re not many scene. It can be considered as “ecchi” because it stays soft but i put a good note because it fits the atmosphere and characters wonderfully.
Endings : 9.5/10 – The bests endings ever !! I wanted to discover them all and all made me cry.
Lifetime : 9/10 – You’ll need a long time and multiple game sessions to do everything.
Total : 9/10 – My top number 1 hentai game !

i heard about this one but didn’t played it . Maybe i’ll try . The only visual novels i played are Narcissu , Ever 17 and my fav by far , True Remembrance ^^

You should definitively try ! It’s not so expensive.
I didn’t know True Remembrance, i’ll check on that.
Thanks to you
I also finished True Remembrance, well not even a hgame, it’s a Kinetic Novel without any other route right? But I like the truth foretold in the end of story, very inspiring.
I forget which part I follow in Ever17 >_< haven't finish though, may have to move from start again. Narcissu is just… too similar to a novel, not much picture, so I pass after about the time the main character get out from 7th floor.
And my fave of all the time is always Clannad, got every ending to the last.
The truly epic, a full month of playing.
I’m glad to see you leaved a comment even if it wasn’t a reply to me :p
I haven’t tried any visual novel yet, but maybe I could try this one as my first step. ^^

Give it a chance
I’ll review many visual novels in the future so don’t hesitate to visit me from time to time.
Kana Little Sister is actually such a good game as it doesnt feel forced when you sleep with one of the possible Love interests but just naturally flows with the story.
This simply shows how well the whole thing is written.
Most Visual Novels suffer the “insert stupid reason why the characters have sex” tradition where the author cant think of a good reason and simply forces them due to stupid reasons like Mana Replention.
Im glad you reviewed this awesome VN

I couldn’t have said better
For me Kana is a very unique special experience that don’t happen very often in a lifetime.
Sometimes i don’t mind playing a VN with a lot of sex scene but it gets boring after a while like the one i’m playing right now.
It was promising at the beginning but now it’s just sex scene after sex scene and the main plot don’t evolve at all. Shame
This is the only visual novel I’ve ever played. I’m not really into eroge, but I’d read that Kana was much more than an excuse for ecchi and decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did. The story was truly moving and, like you said, you really become attached to the main characters.
I’m no expert on visual novels, but I think anyone who’s into them needs to play this one. Thanks for bringing some attention to it!

Hey very happy that you visited me
Most of the time characters and the story of this kind of game are just excuses to generate lots of sex scene. I find that soooo boring.
Fortunately Kana exist to prove me that it’s possible to do ecchi with intelligence.
Just saw this when I browsed about, and…
NUUUUU, KANA ;-;
I read this when I was a wee lad (lol, I know, I shouldn’t have) and I was shocked. Sunk in depression for days. It’s not the most extreme, but it really is so gentle, isn’t it? It’s a testament to the greatness of old games.
Of course, I vowed never to touch these masterpieces again, because they’re simply so saddening >.>
I remember thinking that the one good ending would make me feel better. It did, but it also seemed to unlock that extra story, which started with ‘I once had a little sister’ or smth, which kicked me back into the pit instantly. I closed it on the spot and up till this day I have not grown the balls to read it.

I remember the first ending i had which was one of the bad ending … it was already very late but i was so chocked and sad that it would have been impossible for me to sleep.
I kept saying to myself “no no no no, i don’t want this to end that way, that’s impossible, there must be a solution aaaaaah”
How a game can have such impact ? I guess that’s what make this game a masterpiece.
I did all the endings and like you, i was kind of depressed for a few days. Much more like melancholy to be exact.
But i don’t regret it for a second
OMG!
I love this game! It was so sad … I’m so happy that I’ve found someone else that knows and likes this game. ^^
The only thing that was annoying was the text, I hated the colour of it and it got annoying to read in chunks.
