After the huge success of the panty post, i needed to continue this lead by talking about another common piece of clothing frequently used in mangas and animes. I’m referring to skirts of course ! As you probably noticed already but most of the time, female characters wore skirt and dress of different length and style. Why you may ask ? Well of course because it’s cute, awesomely cute to have a pretty girl wearing a cute skirt, that float with the wind hazardously hiding a cute pink pantie with a bear on the front of it. Is there too much cuteness on my last sentence ? Probably |
As you may know, i can enjoy cleverly staged Fan-service. This almost always involve a skirt or a dress. I can also bring maid outfit but this will be discussed on a future post 
I think skirts and dresses are one of the most feminine piece of casual clothing you may wear. Not only they’re comfortable and ample but they highlight a women’s curves divinely.

My point is, it’s not surprising that girls in anime wear skirt almost all the time and far more often than girls in real life do. It’s interesting to notice the younger the female character is, shorter is her skirt. On the contrary, older characters along with secondary usually wear long dress.
Pants are strictly reserved to guys (obviously) but for tomboys as well.
I want to share a feeling about tomboys i sometimes have while watching an anime. As school is a predominant place for stories to take place and since it’s in japan, girls have an uniform with a skirt so tomboys character are somewhat forced to wear a skirt at school.
It always felt awkward seeing those characters in a school environment.

What about school ? An overwhelming amount of anime have adolescents for heroes and of course, they go to school.
Girls uniforms always have a skirt and it’s a common usage in Japan. Uniforms is something that excite my interest. Have you ever wonder how you school life might looked like if you were forced to wear such things ?
Well for me it probably wouldn’t be a problem since i kinda like uniforms lol

Well indeed it’s reasonable to think you see a lot of girls wearing skirts because they’re forced to. But it’s common to a lot of women as my friend who did a trip there told me. He got all the trouble in the world not getting killed by his wife
I want to go there and see for myself, i’m sure they got huge cloths shops 
How could i forget one of the famous skirt in all time ^^
An appropriate outfit is one very important part of a first line character and it can deterministic to you to love it or hate it.
I don’t know if i’m the only one to consider this to be that important

Hmmmm…This is difficult…Whats my opinion about skirts?
I guess my answer would be I dont mind them.
This may be due to the fact that I like mainly strong women or tomboys but I prefer girls to wear pants or small hotpants or any other kind of indecent clothing that resembles something like pants and uh leotards are fine too XD
Nah seriously I dunno Skirts are rather boring in my opinion and like the variety of pants

Of course normal pants are convenient and it’s impossible to do without them.
One important parameter is that i don’t like too tight clothes which is probably one of the main reason i like to wear and watch them.
I know there’s tight summer pants fanatics among you guys
Tomboys wearing skirts are never boring to me especially when they also wield deadly weapons like guns or katana

Oh i don’t find them boring but they sometimes have a particular role to play in the story.

lol they are very popular especially in japan and anime. in the states most public school uniforms for guys and girls is pants, i would have prolly enjoyed going to class each day if the girls wore skirts lol btw dont they still have to wear skirts in the winter? how do they manage with the cold!

That’s sad ! I sympathize with you.
As far as i know, yes it’s skirt even in winter but there’s options for keeping your leg warm, wool stocking for example. It’s soft, warm and quite enjoyable to wear
As for myself i don’t mind cold too much so it make wearing skirt in winter easier for me.

Hardly any of the girls here seem to be ‘forced to’ though. If given the chance they’ll break out the miniskirts immediately >.> Just that the extreme cold keeps them in check.

Well said and analyzed. I do agree that girls look more feminine with skirts and dresses. Pants are normally for girls with strong character (e.g. a career woman who practices dictatorship). I like to see girls wearing skirts. They kinda make your head turn if they have got the look and shape

Skirts, mangas and Japan make a great trio. I hardly imagine a manga where only girls with pants would hang around. LoooooL
On the other side, even if i think it’s cute, i rarely wear them because i fell uncomfortable. In fact if i had to wear those japanese school girls outfits i would be very unhappy.
I guess it’s just a matter of getting used to it.

Don’t mind me being honest, but I prefer long skirts over short ones. Ankle length or Knee length is fine by me. Nothing revealing then I’m all good.

But what I hate most are tight skirts. Ones that look like they are going to burst anytime. I don’t know… I WOULD probably take a peek at it, then will roll my eyes and turn away after that.
I remember reading a post not long ago about how Japan students actually do NOT wear skirts short enough to reveal anything. Had a picture to validate it too.
So now I’m just wondering if it is a school thing? Where certain schools have short skirts as uniforms while some other schools might have long skirts? Or is it government controlled clothing or something? Any feedback anyone?
Anime skirts however are a whole different issue. I have come to accept that I shouldn’t consider morality when it comes to animes and hence wouldn’t mind any form of short length skirts. In fact, in animes. Characters are almost sure to reveal something sooner or later no matter how long their skirts are. Agree? Lol…. :p

No problem i command you to be honest lol ! And i agree with you. Just above the knee is the shorter i can consider wearing.
Since i enjoy feeling comfortable, i hate tight cloth so a tight skirt who almost look like a pantie is absolutely forbidden and i don’t enjoy watching a girl with it either.
I’ve seen many photos of Japanese school girl with short skirts and a friend who made a trip to Tokyo reported me seeing multiple length for school uniforms.
I don’t know exactly whats the rules about uniforms, do students have some kind of flexibility or choice in a way or others ?
It’s hard to find clear information on this when you don’t speak Japanese.

I think skirts are awesome, especially really short ones.
There’s something of a fascinating mystery hidden under a short skirt that is such a turn-on. I like it more than seeing the skirtless panties.
Once that skirt is lifted or reveals too much, then that mystery is lost and it’s no fun anymore.
I also like long skirts too. The way they flow elegantly in the wind is nice, and always retains purity and grace. It’s definitely the highest expression of femininity.

Short is at least above the knee ^ ^. And “suggest” is synonymous for me to imagine. A tarp, a lot Pantsu or any lingerie lace and lots of little knots created by a stylist, etc … In short, let go of his imagination.
