A very important post here since it will depict my first try of a cosplay costume. It’s an idea i had many months ago. Since i just can’t create a costume myself i decided to look after a way to buy one online. I guess some people will want to set me on fire for this lol. I know the act of creation is important for many cosplayers (not only in the animes world) but it would be cruel to reject people who want to dress up like their favorite character and don’t have the skill to do so by themselves. |
In fact i’m not interested in the act of fabrication exactly the same way i’m not interested in painting figures by myself.
And i’m not interested to compete at convention either but for contest i completely understand it requires the contestant has made his costume from scratch.
I admire people who can build things 
The delivery process (yawn)
Before presenting the costume itself, i’ll talk about how long it was to get it. Indeed customs wanted to piss me off again … let me explain why.
First of all there’s a fabrication time which can be up to 3 weeks depending of the costume of course and the size you give.
It took 2 weeks for mine which was completely normal, then i had a tracking number. It let me see where was my package …
It started in a Chinese city near the east coast
Going south to another east coast Chinese city.
Then in Shanghai
Sent off to Europe from there.
This travel took approximately a week. I excepted to see my package a few days latter.
After 2 weeks of waiting, i was completely surprised to see my package back in Shanghai and following the same travel path in the other direction.
Of course it took another week to arrive where it originally started.
I contacted the customer service and they told me my package was … refused by customs in my country O_o
Fortunately they sent it back to me with no extra fees and i received it (finally) another 2 weeks after that, completely by surprise since i didn’t had any tracking number this time.
So beware, ordering clothing from China is a dangerous threat to your homeland security 
The character
So the costume is Suiginto from Rozen Maiden !
I was immediately attracted by this costume because of the character. I remember having feelings and empathy for Suiginto who was “the bad guy” in the first season of Rozen Maiden.
But she was bad and evil because she’s dealing with a lot of pain, rejection, dismissal and in a way she was more sensitive than any other character.
I loved this ambiguity.
Many details who made Suiginto the most successful character in Rozen Maiden in my opinion.
The costume

It looks gorgeous, black and white, lacework, skirt, her necklace strap, what she have in her hair ….
How can i not be excited with so many lovely things
When i unpacked it, i was surprised to see of how many parts this costume was composed, 9 in total.
Here they are :
Some kind of a short, i thought at first it was to protect your pantie for indiscrete eyes

Below the skirt with rigid circle used to give volume to the skirt so it won’t simply lay down on my legs. I don’t know a more appropriate term ^^ The tissue is really soft.
It's surprisingly soft
Two straps to be placed just below my knees and above the boots. The boots were not included and must be bought separately but i’ve not done it yet.
Didn't tried them without the boots.
The main dress is white with a cute pink flower.

The top with many laces, the inside is also quite soft to the touch.

The part i putted on my head, i don’t know if this piece got a specific name.
It warm up my neck and looks cute on my head
It’s quite good-looking and comfortable but a friend is not much to help you
I had some room left for a larger bosom lol but in the end it was not visible and don’t felt weird
Since there’s so many parts it felt a bit tedious at first but well, it fits logically and it’s even fun to transform you a bit more for each part you slip on.
I was becoming Suiginto 
It’s a thrilling sensation.
It tried to do a big picture ^^
For now i’m wearing it from time to time and only my best friend saw me with it. I’m very shy after all so i don’t plan to go out at a convention with it for now. Maybe i’ll change my mind
But in any case it keeps you warm

It’s weird that customs would turn away some clothing, I’m glad you were able to receive it in the end. I can understand that you don’t want to wear it to a convention now, but it’s a beautiful costume and I think you should go show it off to more people

Well i love my costume but for now i’m deeply afraid to be in public wearing it. I’ll deeply think about that, i promise.

I think Suiginto is the mos difficult RM character to cosplay. Well, The other characters arent easy too and you are doing a great job with the costume. >_<

I feel myself very happy as Suigintou
I don’t know much about the character. I guess it’s time for research again. But again, the outfit looks good and black = mysterious. Judging from the outfit, it must be looking very nice on you. Also, I’m glad to hear that you finally got your order arrived safely.

Aw, no cosplay shots, ever ;-;? Oh well, don’t worry about it, go at your own pace. We the commenters would very much like to see, but not to a degree that makes you uncomfortable.
The undergarment is called a pair of drawers. I think it’s fairly European. Touhou characters are commonly shown wearing them…
The frills and laces all look really nice. Luv gothloli.
Suigintou is a character you just can’t hate – she has her superiority complex, which is so fun to watch, and her backstory in Overture that really makes one empathize.
I like to be “desired” like this but for now i don’t want to do cosplay shots.
Of course i may change my mind in the future, after all it’s my very first tryout. Every options stay open

Alone it would be difficult to slip into this costume. Since it was a first try i limited myself to the costume. So no wig, dye, boots and other possible accessories.
But i kinda like the way i feel when wearing it so i think about completing my Suigintou cosplay and, of course, i think about dress up as other characters ^^
Obviously, Sailor are in my mind.
Ah I am not familiar with Suigintou but thats really a nice costume you got there! Too bad we won’t be seeing you in your cosplay photos ^^ but I respect your wishes

Well “doing cosplay” is probably a big word since for now only one person saw me with it
But it’s not incomfortable so i don’t mind.
Honestly i’m delighted with this costume, i don’t see any problems just maybe i should have a larger bottoms…
It was my first “transformation” actually and it was an awesome experience. No way i could be as awesome as Suigintou lol No one can be like her, she’s too .. unique !

Don’t worry about this. It’s about the passion. Not the skills.
It doesn’t matter if you bought the costume or if you made it yourself. More important is that you love the character you are cosplaying and make an effort to try and bring her/him to life. At least that’s what I’ve been learning from the cosplayers I’ve been meeting.
And I really agree with them too.

About that, yes i looooove Suigintou, she’s awesome and very pretty. I love her temper and how she shows her feelings.
And of course there’s many elements in her outfit i totally love.
I don’t know if i could be a “real” Suigintou in front of other people since i tend to close myself up and enter in a “don’t notice me” mode.
For now i don’t plan to go in a convention (at least for now) so i won’t have anything new to post about this very soon.
I may complete the outfit yes so be sure i’ll keep you informed.
Oh wait… A very important thing to keep in mind!
More often than not I’ve seen cosplayers who trip and fell. Mainly cause they were wearing high heels, having long dresses, tough boots, have chains strapped to their legs, wings out of their back touching the floor, etc. etc.
All sort of reasons you wouldn’t even have imagined. Lol.
They weren’t used to the costume they were wearing. It’s different from wearing and testing it out at home than wearing it out and running up and down the convention hall.
So even if you were not wearing a long dress, do be careful k.
Wouldn’t want a fall to ruin your first cosplay experience…

First of all i’ll have to get used to it before planning any big event to attend.
Maybe i’ll go my weekly shopping wearing it lol, wonder how people will look at me.

I’m thinking about getting Suigintou boots but boots are so expensive :/
Might I suggest going out with a few friends first.

I also like Suigintou. I thought her dress is (dark) bluish purple? But the costume looks really nice. Do you have Suigintou’s wings too? That would be very cool. ^^

Yes you’re right, Suigintou costume is some kind of black dark purple. Mine is black lol well it’s not really an issue for me because i love how i look in it

Nice to see you’re going to cosplay. Mhh, guess cosplay is like many things in (otaku) fandom, supposedly all about fun and passion but alas infected with a portion of negative people who screw it over for everyone else.

It’s not so expensive for a costume this sophisticated. Around 100 euros.
I love this style and i think i’ll look around for other loligoth clothing.
